Gross salary: € 2000 - 2400

The final salary level will be determined on the basis of merit after the interview. Benefits may include, depending on the position, free daily meals at one of the restaurants in the facility or free accommodation close to the respective property. The terms of the sectoral collective agreement for hotel employees in Chania apply.

Job description

As Sous Chef, you will combine both managerial and culinary expertise to support the Head Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen. You will play a key role in maintaining high culinary standards, inspiring your team, and ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen delights our guests. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing creativity with consistent quality.

Typical responsibilities

  • Assist in menu planning and the preparation of dining menus.
  • Create dishes of exceptional quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Ensure the efficient daily operation of the kitchen in line with our quality standards.
  • Take charge of problem-solving and lead the kitchen team in challenging situations.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional atmosphere.
  • Oversee the ordering and proper storage of supplies.
  • Maintain professional and constructive collaboration with colleagues, partners, and guests.

Necessary skills

  • Proven work experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of cooking techniques, materials, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to handle emergencies with resourcefulness and provide effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management systems, POS, and MS Office.
  • Ability to work with speed, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team spirit and leadership qualities.
  • Flexibility to work in different shifts and hours.
  • A degree or certification in Culinary Arts will be considered an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a 4* or 5* hotel kitchen will be highly valued.
