Day cruise from Makry Gialos to Koufonisi: Heaven on earth

From the harbour of the small beach town of Makry Gialos in south-eastern Crete, an excursion boat of 'Cretan Daily Cruises' calls at the uninhabited island of Koufonisi almost daily during the summer half-year from mid-May to mid-October.

Koufonisi is a beach paradise with beautiful white sandy bays and gently sloping shores. The island has 36 fantastic beaches with fine golden sand. The water is crystal clear, shimmering in all possible hues between green and blue.

There is no natural shade anywhere, nor are there any sun loungers or parasols for hire, let alone a beach bar. It's better to bring water and a picnic with you.
